FES promised to support the Coalition grass root women consultations at Central Ethiopia Region

Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung promised to support the Coalition grass root women’s consultations on the National Dialogue at Central Ethiopia Region during its Resident Representative, Ms. Susanne Stoll Reiter & Mr. Mengesha, an advisor, visit to TIMRAN office on April 26, 2024, G.C.

TIMRAN Executive Directress, Eyerusalem Solomon, welcomed and introduced the staff to the guests.

Aschalew Matthewos, the Coalition Program Manager, on his part, presented about the overall Coalition activities and said in the past one year the Coalition able to make women consultations in seven regions and two city administrations with the Support of IRISH AID and USAID/NDI.
He also updated to the guests on the Coalition interest to conduct women consultations in the Central Ethiopia Region (CER) and presented a scenario to do so.

Following this a discussion was made between the two sides and Ms. Susanne promised to support the Coalition activities to conduct grass root women consultations at CER.

The coalition formed in 2022 to ensure women’s meaningful representation in the Ethiopian National Dialogue process and the process responds to and addresses Ethiopian women’s needs, perspectives, priorities, and aspirations.

TIMRAN is an indigenous not-for-profit organization registered by the Agency for Civil Societies Organizations in March 2020. It emerged as a local nonpartisan civil society organization dedicated to advance women’s participation in politics and public decision making in Ethiopia regardless of their political opinion or party affiliation.

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Ethiopia, Addis Ababa office, was established in 1992. Since then, it has been actively supporting the process of political, social, and economic development and transformation in the country. In its almost three decades of experience in Ethiopia, FES has established strong partnerships with non-governmental organizations, trade unions, civil society organization, Think Tanks, universities, government institutions and the Ethiopian Parliament.
